I had always heard all the buzz about Twitter and tweets; however, I had never been interested in being part of this social media platform. Yet, during my coursework of Web 2.0 Technology for Instruction, one of our assignments was to set up an account and go through a “Twitter Adventure”.
Still a little hesitant, I downloaded the app and signed up for an account. I decided to do a professional account and quickly came across the options of people or organizations I wanted to follow. I decided to follow my school, district, and several colleagues, and just like that, I had a stream of informative information that pertained to my professional setting.

Tweets were being sent out, read, retweeted, and even commented on. I began to explore and search for reading materials that encompassed what my class entails and about our current pandemic situation. It’s incredible how easy it was to share and tweet on Twitter my findings. I noticed how our classmates #etec527 were tweeting on relevant information I was interested in. This indeed was a professional learning experience. I saw it as a one-stop-shop for becoming informed on Web 2.0 tools and other educational trends.
I continued exploring Hootsuite and TweetDeck. Both were a great resource to organize your social media accounts, you can simultaneously publish streams and have access to all on one screen. This eliminates the time to move from one platform to another. However, for being a person that does not like to publish much on social media, I personally would not have a good use for either.
Overall, this “Tweeter Adventure,” has given me the opportunity to see how I could use this as a learning tool that I will continue to apply to grow professionally. My ultimate goal is to see how I can use this tool in my classroom in a purposeful manner that would benefit my student's learning experience.
